I wake to the news
and find myself living
a dystopian novel:
Bias controls the media
and we learn to trust no-one.
Not even experts.
Storm-blown destruction has
waterlogged our lives.
Do we lend a hand?
A voice?
A tweet?
and in between
we spend our time
ascribing this catastrophe to that
defining humanity
by the hate we cast
Perhaps it will end as it began:
in one cosmic crescendo
ripping, tearing
forming and reforming
until we are whole
once again
